| Video of Little Japan. Project Zero - with Balloon Zero and Balloon One | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Little Japan was developed so that the creator (Kazuya Kanemaru) and any volunteer could travel to towns and villages on it. The purpose of the journey is to find a place to launch the attached balloon (shaped similarly to Little Boy, the nuclear weapon that was actually used for the first time in Japan). Kanemarue wonders from town to town until he finds an adequate spot to launch the balloon. During the journey, Kanemaru interview people who he encounter and get their opinion on Little Japan. The interviews are recorded on video and audio tapes so that they could be presented to public in exhibitions around the world.

| Little
Japan and its projects were
developed so that they maintain various pairs of opposite elements. They
drive us to a world of vagueness. And at the end, what do we see? It maybe a very important thing for us at this time.

| Balloon Zero - completed June 1999 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A Prototype balloon used in Project Zero. Balloon Zero was created in a size larger then Little Boy in order to secure durability and buoyancy. There is a balloon inside the external balloon so that durability is maintain. The relatively large size makes it difficult to ride Balloon Zero through busy streets and vulnerable to wind.

| Little Japan with Balloon One | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Journey is not so difficult if there is no wind. Little Japan can even be ridden in crowded city street. During a project (journey), several other bicycles accompany Little Japan to record the project and take photos. In addition, Little Japan has to be refilled with helium gas, so a car carrying a gas tank is always nearby to respond to the SOS. A launch operation can be done quickly just by detaching the four supporting poles. As the buoyant force is approximately 5kg, the balloon can be launched smoothly if there is no wind. And the balloon is launched without notification.
